Meditation “The killing of Mother Earth in our time is the number one ethical, spiritual, and human issue of our planet.” The Cosmic Christ, Matthew Fox
“So my mind keeps coming back to the question: what is wrong with us? What is really preventing us from putting out the fire that is threatening to burn down our collective house? I think the answer is far more simple than many have led us to believe: we have not done the things that are necessary to lower emissions because those things fundamentally conflict with deregulated capitalism, the reigning ideology for the entire period we have been struggling to find a way out of this crisis. We are stuck because the actions that would give us the best chance of averting catastrophe—and would benefit the vast majority—are extremely threatening to an elite minority that has a stranglehold over our economy, our political process, and most of our major media outlets.”

Invocation Our Dear, Dear Mother by Raffi
Our dear, dear Mother, daily provider, earth be your name. The time has come, to honor you, to know you and to show our love.” 1.You give us each day our daily grain, kissed by the sun and kissed by the rain. Teach us now to find a way to care for you in our work and play. Chorus 2.Within the beauty of your silent spin, we know you’re hurting and we feel your pain. With your forgiveness we can start anew. We need a chance to make it up to you. Chorus

St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi Prayer
Make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy, And where there is sadness, joy, joy, joy. God grant that I may not so much see; To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born, to Eternal Life. Amen, Amen, Amen

Words of Wisdom “By the term “cosmology” I mean three things: a scientific story about the origin of our universe; mysticism that is the psychic response to our being in a universe; and art, which translates science and mysticism into the images that awaken body, soul and society. A Cosmology needs all three elements to come alive: it is our joyful response (mysticism) the awesome fact of our being in the universe (science) and our expression of that response by the art of our lives and citizenship (art). “ Matthew Fox The Coming of the Cosmic Christ

Words of Wisdom Science “A religion old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the universe as revealed by modern science might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths. Sooner or later such a religion will emerge.” Carl Sagan

Words of Wisdom “At the national Academy of Sciences conference in 1986 exploring the mass extinction of plants and animals on our planet, Paul R. Ehrlich of Stanford University declared, “Scientific analysis points, curiously, toward the need for a quasi-religious transformation of contemporary cultures….The past one hundred years of science have reawakened the human race to the power and dimension of time. Surely our dawning awareness of evolution and our gradual appreciation of the vast distances of time represented by the age of the earth (four and a half billion years) and the universe (about twenty billion years) fills s with a new awe at the mystery of our origins. All things are in flux; all things evolve; all things some and go; all things are in time and birthing in their time. Time and history are integral to all mystery. This is the cosmic law. A deep connection exists between the time consciousness of today’s science and the time consciousness of Jesus Christ” ” Fox

Words from a Dream Mysticism (a returning to the source or a direct experience of God/dess) “The dream …was about the devastation our planet is currently undergoing because we lack a living cosmology. I call this devastation “matricide” or the killing of the mother, for this is how the dream spoke to me. ….The perils of Mother earth and our children will not be alleviated without enlisting our spiritual heritage in the struggle….The death of Mother Earth (matricide) and the resurrection of the human psyche (mysticism) and the coming of the Cosmic Christ (a living cosmology) name the mystery of the divine cycle of death and rebirth and sending of the Spirit in our time. Were the human race to believe anew in this mystery a renaissance would surely occur.” Fox

Words from Visions In 1205, at the Church of San Daniano which later became St Clare’s first monastery, St Francis had a vision while he was in prayer before an icon of Jesus. Jesus said to him "Francis, Francis, go and repair my house which, as you can see, is falling into ruins." Later he realized that Jesus had not meant an actual building but to build a spiritual metaphoric church that teaches the mystical teachings of Jesus for us to love the divine in all of creation.

Words of Wisdom Art (Art that is an expression of our awe at creation, art as prayer!) “The way to build a church is not to pay for it, certainly not with somebody else's money. The way to build a church is not even to pay for it with your own money. The way to build a church is to build it.”
St. Francis of Assisi

Words of Wisdom “Creativity has an answer. We are told by those who have studied the processes of nature that creativity happens at the border between chaos and order. Chaos is a prelude to creativity. We need to learn, as every artist needs to learn, to live with chaos and indeed to dance with it as we listen to it and attempt some ordering. Artists wrestle with chaos, take it apart, deconstruct and reconstruct from it. Accept the challenge to convert chaos into some kind of order, respecting the timing of it all, not pushing beyond what is possible—combining holy patience with holy impatience--that is the role of the artist. It is each of our roles as we launch the twenty-first century because we are all called to be artists in our own way. We were all artists as children. We need to study the chaos around us in order to turn it into something beautiful. Something sustainable. Something that remains".”
