Reflection       Easter and Earth Day and Dying  in love in an Ecological Civilization and new Spring for Humanity!

Musical response     Into the Garden Alone(see insert)

Prayer   (in unison)      Dear God of  Love,

We ask for your blessings on this holy day of Easter as we reclaim the wisdom of our teachers Jesus and Mary Magdalene. We come to commune with you, to open our eyes gracious God and ask you to please grant us inspiration and hope. We give thanks for the magnificence of creation. We ask for forgiveness for all the ways our human family has becoming numb and disassociated and often we have not loved you and you that is  in all nature that is of you and sacred.  We pray for the earth who is a living Being. We pray for our loved ones as well as our enemies as Jesus taught us. We pray for our children and grandchildren for Greta Thunberg and those working for an ecologic civilization. We pray for the very young and old both human and non-human and the vulnerable everywhere who need our love and care.  We give thanks this Easter for the hope of spring and our communion with you, now and into eternity. Help us give up our fear of death that we may embrace the joy of living. Thank you for your abundant love.  Amen

Silent Prayerfor Our Common Home Mother Erath a Living Being

Closing PrayerSt. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi Prayer

Make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy, And where there is sadness, joy, joy, joy. God grant that I may not so much seek; To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born, to Eternal Life. Amen, Amen, Amen

Benediction               Blessing Song           by Miriam Therese Winters

May the blessings of God go before you. May her grace and peace abound. May her spirit live within you. May her love wrap you round. May her blessings remain with you always. May you walk on holy ground.

Communion is coffee, tea and hot cross buns here at the virtual Mary Magdalene Café! All are welcome. (We usually have a pot luck dinner at home but for the beach we have finger food.)

John 20:1-18 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. 4The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. 6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. 8Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10Then the disciples returned to their homes.

11But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; 12and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” (which means Teacher). 17Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses. Refrain

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

She speaks, and the sound of Her voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that She gave to me
Within my heart is ringing. Refrain

I’d stay in the garden with Them
Though the night around me be falling,
But They bid me go; through the voice of woe
Their voice to me is calling. Refrain

Swing low, sweet chariot, Coming for to carry me home.
Swing low, sweet chariot, Coming for to carry me home.

I looked over Jordan, what do I see, Coming for to carry me home.
A band of angels coming after me, Coming for to carry me home.[Chorus]

I look over Jordan, what do I see, Coming for to carry me home.
A band of angels coming after me, Coming for to carry me home.
