Invocation Our Dear, Dear Motherby Raffi
Our dear, dear Mother, daily provider, earth be your name. The time has come, to honor you, to know you and to show our love.” 1.You give us each day our daily grain, kissed by the sun and kissed by the rain. Teach us now to find a way to care for you in our work and play. Chorus 2.Within the beauty of your silent spin, we know you’re hurting and we feel your pain. With your forgiveness we can start anew. We need a chance to make it up to you. Chorus

Prayersof Confession (in unison) Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We are living in a time of the 6thextinction of life on earth where 150-200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours. We pray for them. (Silence)Our human family has not answered your call to love you and your creation with our whole hearts. We have not loved our human brothers and sister and our non-human and plant relatives as ourselves. We need to be closer to you and we ask for your help. (Silence) Open our ears to hear your call. (Silence)Open our mouths that we are no longer mute to the suffering in our world. (Silence) You who we call by many names, you who are the source of all, have mercy on us and like Jesus open our ears so we are no longer deaf to your call. Give us speech and open our hearts to love you and our neighbor. (Silence)May we be cured of our deafness and muteness in our church and our work to save the earth. (Silence)We come today to listen to your call and may we care for the least of these as Jesus taught us.(Silence)We give thanks and are in awe of the miracle of your healing and love. Open our ears! Open our mouths! Open our hearts! Open our spirits! We feel the vibration of your presence in the silence and we give thanks. (Silence) Open us and the people together say Ephphatha Be Opened. Amen

ScriptureMark 7:24-37(NRSV) “Then he returned from the region of Tyre, and went by way of Sidon towards the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis. 32 They brought to him a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they begged him to lay his hand on him. 33 He took him aside in private, away from the crowd, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue. 34 Then looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” 35 And immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. 36 Then Jesus[a]ordered them to tell no one; but the more he ordered them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. 37 They were astounded beyond measure, saying, “He has done everything well; he even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

Closing PrayerSt. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi Prayer
Make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy, And where there is sadness, joy, joy, joy. God grant that I may not so much see; To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born, to Eternal Life. Amen, Amen, Amen

Voice Still and Small by John Corrado
Voices still and small, I hear you call, singing. In storm and rain, sorrow and pain, still we’ll remain singing. Calming my fears, quenching my fears, through all the years, singing.
I Hear a Call by Emmylou Harris
I hear a call now will I answer, forsake my all
To serve another, though darkness falls stay a believer
I hear a call, now will answer.
I see a light now will I follow, fill up this life
that grows more hollow, make joy reside where there lives sorrow,
I see a light, now will follow.
I hear a call from out of nowhere and from everywhere I go
I hear a call, now will answer.
I feel a touch, now will I hold on, be there with love,
For those with no one, with a kindness such
It lives though I'm gone, I feel a touch now will I hold on.
I hear a call from out of nowhere and from everywhere I go,
I see a light now will I follow, I feel a touch now will I hold on
I hear a call now will I answer.
Announcements:We are witnessing the 6thextinction of life on earth -the only one created by humans. We gather to create community and to give thanks to God for all of creation as we build a new ‘ecologic civilization.’ Jesus taught a way to live in the truth and taught us that, “The truth will set you free.” (John 8:32) Every Sunday at 5 pm we acknowledge that we need one another more than ever before as we commit to deepening our relationship with God. Following worship we invite everyone to the Mary Magdalene Cafe for a pot luck dinner at 6 pm, with vegetarian soup or main dish and drinks provided. Weather permitting we share star gazing and dancing. We follow in the teachings of Jesus not necessarily church traditions. We look to the early traditions of house churches, often led by women in the first few hundred years of early Christianity and also explore and study the newly found gnostic gospels. Children and dogs are especially welcome at worship. (Dogs are not allowed at Torrey Pines State Park) 501C-3 nonprofit tax exempt status for church approved! Your gifts to church are tax deductible.
