Teach us now to find a way to care for you in our work and play. Chorus 2.Within the beauty of your silent spin, we know you’re hurting and we feel your pain. With your forgiveness we can start anew. Musical Response         I Went Down to the River to Pray   by Allison Kraus

Prayersof Confession (in unison) Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.  We come in prayer to ask for your forgiveness. May we forgive others and even our enemies as Jesus taught.  (Silence)We pray for the 150-200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours.May they rest in peace. (Silence)We need to be closer to you and we ask for your help. (Silence)  You who we call by many names, you who are the source of all, guide us as a church as we create a community of love for children and all your creatures. May we open to your truth that we are an interspecies creation and may we put the children and creatures all who have been put last, may we put them first. (Silence)We give thanks and are in awe of the miracle of your healing and love. (Silence) Amen

SCRIPTURE GOSPEL OF MARK NEW REVISED STANDARD VERSION (NRSV)

Jesus sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.” 36 Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.”

Closing PrayerSt. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi Prayer

Make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy, And where there is sadness, joy, joy, joy. God grant that I may not so much see; To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born, to Eternal Life. Amen, Amen, Amen

Mary Magdalene Café Dinner and Dancing

It's you I Likeby Mr. Fred Rogers

It's you I like, it's not the things you wear,

It's not the way you do your hair but it's you I like

The way you are right now, the way down deep inside you

Not the things that hide you, not your toys, they're just beside you.

But it's you I like every part of you.

Your skin, your eyes, your feelings

Whether old or new. I hope that you'll remember

Even when you're feeling blue that it's you I like,

It's you yourself it's you. it's you I like.

Tis A Gift To Be Simple

Joseph Brackett (1797-1882)
Shaker dancing song

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.

When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come 'round right

Announcements:We are witnessing the 6thextinction of life on earth -the only one created by humans. It is simultaneously  a time when love and truth are transmitting to and through us.  We gather to create community and to give thanks to God for all of creation as we create  a new kind of ecologic community. Every Sunday at 5 pm we acknowledge that we need one another more than ever before as we commit to deepening  our relationship with God. Following worship we invite everyone to the Mary Magdalene Cafe for a pot luck dinner at 6 pm, with vegetarian soup or main dish and drinks provided. Weather permitting we share star gazing and dancing. We follow in the teachings of Jesus not necessarily church traditions. We look to the early traditions of house churches, often led by women in the first few hundred years of early Christianity and also  explore and study the newly found gnostic gospels. Children and dogs are especially welcome at worship. (Dogs are not allowed at Torrey Pines State Park) 501C-3 nonprofit tax exempt status for church approved! Your gifts to church are tax deductible.
