The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, commentary by Jean-Yves Leloup

Meditation“A living deity who wants to communicate thus necessitates an intermediate realm between God and human, between the invisible and the visible, between the world of immaterial spirit and material bodies. It is this intermediary imaginal realm that Miriam has her meetings with the resurrected Christ. As with the ancient prophets, God activates the necessary visionary, imaginal forms in her, so as to bring her to the Divine.” The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, commentary by Jean-Yves Leloup

Our dear, dear Mother, daily provider, earth be your name. The time has come, to honor you, to know you and to show our love.” 1.You give us each day our daily grain, kissed by the sun and kissed by the rain. Teach us now to find a way to care for you in our work and play. Chorus 2.Within the beauty of your silent spin, we know you’re hurting and we feel your pain. With your forgiveness we can start anew. We need a chance to make it up to you. Chorus

Visions, Dreams and the ImaginalRev. Bonnie Tarwater

Prayersof Confession (in unison) Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We are living in a time of  the 6thextinction of life on earth where 150-200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours. We obviously have not loved you and your creation with our whole heart; we have not loved all of our human, non-human and plant families as ourselves. We are truly sorry and humbly ask you to help us to tell the truth and work for reconciliation.  You who we call by many names, you who are the source of all, have mercy on us and forgive us and give us courage to explore the imaginal realms for we will not solve our current problems using the same methods we used to create them. Help us to wake up to the divine realm where we meet and co-create with you. Guide us as we scommune with you in new ways and please wake us up to visions and dreams of you. Please  bring all those things into holy union within us, so that we may rest in you. Heal us in your miraculous love.  Give us hope when we are afraid and have little hope. Amen Silent Prayerand Prayers(see insert)

Prayer(in unison)Our Mother Father God who is within uswe celebrate your many names. You support us in our power and we act with courage. For you are the dwelling place within usthe empowerment around usand the celebration among usnow and forever. Amen

Closing PrayerSt. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi Prayer

Make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy, And where there is sadness, joy, joy, joy. God grant that I may not so much see; To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born, to Eternal Life. Amen, Amen, Amen

Announcements:We are witnessing the 6thextinction of life on earth -the only one created by humans. We gather to create community and to give thanks to God for all of creation as we build a new ‘ecologic civilization.’  .  Jesus taught a way to live in the truth and taught us that, “The truth will set you free.” (John 8:32) Every Sunday at 5 pm we acknowledge that we need one another more than ever before as we deepen our relationship with God. Following worship we invite everyone to the Mary Magdalene Cafe for a pot luck dinner at 6 pm, with vegetarian soup or main dish and drinks provided. Weather permitting we share star gazing and dancing. We follow in the early traditions of house churches led by women in the first few hundred years of early Christianity and also to study the newly found gnostic gospels. Children and dogs are especially welcome at worship. (Dogs are not allowed at Torrey Pines State Park)

Help us find two acres or more of land in San Diego County to build our church. We will also consider collaborating with another  organization to work to alleviate suffering and create community for needy serve children, families, Mother Earth and the least of these. We ask our  elders to become  community makers, in the spirit of the Taize community after WWII, who cared for orphans and who became leaders in innovative artistic soulful worship and a spirit filled ecumenical community.  It is time to prepare for the ecologic disaster.  It is time to use our planetary crisis as an invitation to spiritually grow.
