The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, commentary by Jean-Yves Leloup

Meditation” …For the imaginal is not merely something that is at best possible as is the imaginary. Rather, it is of an ontological reality entirely superior to that of mere possibility. Imaginal realties are not less endowed with real Being than are the factual realties that are the basis of history. Furthermore, history itself ceases to exist when it denigrates into a mere collection of facts unconnected by a story—and this story cannot be found without a transcendent dimension that sees. ” The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, commentary by Jean-Yves Leloup

Our dear, dear Mother, daily provider, earth be your name. The time has come, to honor you, to know you and to show our love.” 1.You give us each day our daily grain, kissed by the sun and kissed by the rain. Teach us now to find a way to care for you in our work and play. Chorus 2.Within the beauty of your silent spin, we know you’re hurting and we feel your pain. With your forgiveness we can start anew. We need a chance to make it up to you. Chorus

Prayers of Confession  (in unison) Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We are living in a time of  the 6thextinction of life on earth where 150-200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours. The human family  has not loved you and your creation with our whole hearts; we have not loved  our human, non-human and plant relatives as ourselves. We are truly sorry and humbly ask you to help us to face the truth of the severity of ur circumstances and begin to  work to save our common home, mother earth.  You who we call by many names, you who are the source of all, have mercy on us and give us courage. Awaken us to the imaginal realms where we long to be with you. We know we will not solve our current problems using the same methods we used to create them and we ask you to guide our church and our work to save the earth. Please  bring all those things

into holy union within us, so that we may rest in you. Heal us in your miraculous love.  Give us courage to face the truth when we are afraid.

We give thanks and are in awe of your magnificent creation. Amen

Prayers (Please share names or one sentence and we will pray for them and  everyone with the same suffering or joy.)

Closing PrayerSt. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi Prayer

Make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy, And where there is sadness, joy, joy, joy. God grant that I may not so much see; To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born, to Eternal Life. Amen, Amen, Amen

Benediction               Blessing Song           by Miriam Therese Winters

May the blessings of God go before you. May her grace and peace abound. May her spirit live within you. May her love wrap you round. May her blessings remain with you always. May you walk on holy ground.

Chant Be still and know that I am God/dess.  Be still and know that I am God. Be still and know that I am, Be still and know that I, Be still and know that, Be still and know, Be still and, Be still, Be. (repeat)

Words of Wisdom “Silence, they say, is Mother of all beings born of the Abyss. Inasmuch as she expressed the inexpressible, she has kept to silence. Inasmuch as she has understood, she has named it: the incomprehensible.” Clement of Alexandria

 Silence

Chant“Come and fill my heart with your peace, you the God of love are holy. Come and fill our hearts with your peace”

Gospel of Mary Magdalene “I left the world with the aid of another world; a design was erased, by virtue of a higher design. Henceforth I travel toward Repose, where time rests in the Eternity of time; I go now into Silence. Having said all this May became silent, for it was in silence that the Teacher (Jesus) spoke to her.”

 Silence

Chant Our God is our light, Our light and salvation. In God I trust. In God I trust. (repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene commentary by Jean Le Loup “Before attaining the Repose in Silence, Miriam’s being must pass through four climates, the final and uppermost of which consists of seven levels. At the opening of page 15, Miriam has already passed through the first climate. She has left behind the experiences of nausea so well described I our contemporary literature—that sense of disgust and absurdity at being too full of matter, trapped and stifled by the weight of our constituent elements.”

Silence

Chant Ubi caritas et amor, ubi caritas Deus ibiest.

Live in charity and steadfast love, live in charity; God will dwell in you. (repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene The Second Climate a tense and stressful climate of complaints and demands….Craving can never say “Enough” only  “More.” “And craving said: ‘I did not see you descend, but now I see you rising, Why do you lie?”

Silence

Chant HolySpirit come to us, kindle in us the fire of your love, Holy Spirit, come to us, Holy Spirit, come to us.”(repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene The Third Climate Refusal of knowledge, willful ignorance, refusal of awareness, closed mindedness, complacency and vanity. “ Then it entered into the third climate, known as ignorance. Ignorance inquired of the soul” ”Where are you going You are dominated by wicked inclinations. Indeed, you lack discrimination, and you are enslaved. “(Awareness of our own ignorance can be out salvation Does not wisdom begin with consciousness of our own not-knowing, just as healing begins with consciousness of our own lack of health?”

 Silence

Chant O God hear my prayer. O God hear my prayer. When I call answer me. O God hear my prayer. God hear my prayer. Come and listen to me. (repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene Fourth Climate Sevenfold Wrath, A climate that adds to violence to the other climates, bringing then to climaxes of jealousy, possessiveness, pride, and the madness of profane wisdom. And enslavement to the body. “These are the seven manifestations of Wrath, and they oppressed the soul with questions: ‘Where do you come form murderer?” and “Where are you going vagabond?”

Silence

Chanting Come and pray in us, Holy Spirit, come and pray in us, come and visit us, Holy Spirit, Spirit come, Sprit come. (repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene “That which oppressed me has been slain; that which encircles me as vanished; my craving has faded, and I am freed from my ignorance.” This is the psyche turned toward the nous ( the bridge between the Holy Spirit and the sprit within) It is no longer subject to craving and ignorance, for it has discovered the harmonious order of the human manifold. The soul’s sprit can now rejoin the Holy SPiirt. “

Silence

Chanting Alleluia, Kiss the Bride of Christ  (repeat)

Announcements:We are witnessing the 6thextinction of life on earth -the only one created by humans. We gather to create community and to give thanks to God for all of creation as we build a new ‘ecologic civilization.’  .  Jesus taught a way to live in the truth and taught us that, “The truth will set you free.” (John 8:32) Every Sunday at 5 pm we acknowledge that we need one another more than ever before as we deepen our relationship with God. Following worship we invite everyone to the Mary Magdalene Cafe for a pot luck dinner at 6 pm, with vegetarian soup or main dish and drinks provided. Weather permitting we share star gazing and dancing. We follow in the early traditions of house churches led by women in the first few hundred years of early Christianity and also to study the newly found gnostic gospels. Children and dogs are especially welcome at worship. (Dogs are not allowed at Torrey Pines State Park)

We need your help to find someone who will give us two or more acres of land in San Diego County to build our straw bale work of art church in the spirit of Salvation Mt. We will also consider collaborating with another organization to work to alleviate suffering and create community for needy serve children, families, Mother Earth and the least of these. Any ideas of organizations in San Diego who may already have structures and or land that we could share are needed. Our visions is that the  elders in our church will  become community makers during the time of ecologic devastation,  following in the footsteps of the Taize community after WWII. Brother Roger bought a farm and cared for orphans and invited ecumenical religious leaders to join him. They became an  innovative spirit filled ecumenical community who continues to attract young people. It is time to prepare for the ecologic disaster.  Church for Our Common Home has the vision of  using our planetary crisis as an invitation to spiritually grow and create sustainable and loving community. Our 501C-3 nonprofit tax exempt status for church approved! Your gifts to church are tax deductible.
